Hello Friend!
Yes, even though we may have never met each other face to face, the fact that you are reading this means you have at least some point in the journey found interest in Ambrose. To me, that right there is enough to merit you a friend of mine!
I have been given the privilege of representing some of the Ministry programs here at Ambrose, which I honestly do consider to be a privilege. I have had, and continue to have, an incredible experience here at Ambrose, and I would love for you to be able to experience what I have been blessed over the semesters to experience. Which is why I am representing this area of the school. To be able to walk alongside potential students (such as you?) and help you realize what Ambrose has to offer in these degrees, which is a lot!
So, to begin this year long journey together, I think it’s only fair for you to get to know me a little bit, and to know why I chose Ambrose in the first place when there are other places to go to learn (they’re just not as good J), let you know what I have been able to be involved with at the school, and just in general who I am!
So, first things first…
My name is Kyle Trigg!
I’m in my third year here at Ambrose in a Bachelor of Ministry with a focus in Church Ministry.
I started attending Ambrose immediately out of High School and went directly into the major under which I still fall. I know it may sound cliché or corny, but it is very true, that since starting at Ambrose as a freshman my experience at Ambrose only gets better and better. With every passing semester and year my time at this school has just become more and more enjoyable (and my freshman year was an absolute blast, so that says something!)
I did not just sign up for Ambrose right away and not look at other possibilities. I did look at other academic institutions which I could study, learn, and get a ministry-orientated degree at. I thought about schools all over Canada that had degrees which I thought would be applicable; I even visited some other campuses to see what they had to offer. But at the end of the day, the choice was rather simple, and there truly was no other choice for me other than Ambrose.
There were a combination of factors that led me to choose Ambrose, but the most obvious ones to me were the importance placed upon the community life in the student body, that Ambrose is more than just a community of friends, it’s a spiritual community, and finally the academic excellence at the school. When I came to the school for the first time to meet with the faculty I was immediately impressed with the “vibe” of the school, it was much different than any other school I had visited or been at, and especially a stark contrast from the high school environment. I walked on campus and felt at home, I felt peace, I felt welcomed, valued and loved, it was quite different from any academic building I had stepped foot in before, that’s for sure! I met with who is now my academic supervisor who toured me around the campus, introduced me to other faculty members, and any student he had the chance to. I left that first day after only an hour feeling like I had a handful of new friendships and people that truly did care for me, like I was at home.
I knew from my initial visit to the campus of Ambrose (which used to be a downtown Calgary building, now we’ve got a gorgeous campus!) that this was the school for me. That Ambrose was the place where I would be challenged the most, learn in the best environment for me as a student, person, child of God, and to be best prepared for my future life in ministry.
Wherever you’re at in the decision making process I encourage you to contact us with your questions, thoughts, and anything else you may have. We’re here to help you with that process, to walk alongside you in this journey (because that’s just what it is… to make a decision with this much importance is a journey, to say the least!)
Hope you are doing well my new friend, and you will be hearing from me lots more in the months to come, but more importantly, I hope to hear from you!
